These knowing, sometimes dark tales are about people struggling to connect with each other in spite of their own ambivalence." -Glamour
Excerpt
The summer before I left for college, I was head lifeguard on the beach at Pirate's Point. I don't think real pirates ever landed there, but the name made me think that strange and mysterious things could happen right where I lived. I grew up on the peninsula, and it was my home. I never found it monotonous, staring across the sea, but instead I liked to think of what lay beyond, how someday perhaps I'd sail to the other side.
- Anita Shreve"I loved it. The writing is superb, and the tension Morris creates between Andrea and Loretta keeps the reader anxious - a beautiful example of the thread of literary suspense."
- Jodi Picoult"The River Queen is my new favorite book. I wish I'd been the one to write something so flawless, so honest and so resonant."
